Ioannis Apostokalis: One Parish Representative Takes Action!
Many people first learn of IOCC through an IOCC mailing they receive in their mailbox. Ioannis Apostolakis, IOCC parish representative at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Pawtucket, RI is no different, but what he did next is what makes him our volunteer of the month. He took action.

After doing some research about the organization, Ioannis knew that there was a place for him to become involved. "When I found out about IOCC I was so impressed with the work done, along with the accountability of its processes, that I answered the call for a Parish Representative in our community."
In the five months that Ioannis has been an official IOCC Parish Representative, he wasted no time turning his love into action. Since this past April, he has worked diligently to raise awareness in his parish community and to motivate people to help others through IOCC. This past September, Ioannis organized his parish’s first IOCC fundraiser, a successful luncheon that raised funds and awareness for IOCC projects worldwide.
Ioannis has big plans for his community and his role as a Parish Representative. "I plan to work even harder to promote awareness for the work of IOCC through our community and its youth groups. Hopefully, the time will come that our work will motivate more of our Orthodox communities in our area so that we can unite our efforts. I have a feeling we will get there".
