Ukraine: Help When There is No Time to Pack

May 27, 2026

We often take the basics in our life for granted, but when a missile destroyed their home in eastern Ukraine, Elena and her husband were left with very little. “We moved to Dnipro without having anything with us—not even clothes or the most basic household items—and we did not know anyone in the city,” said Elena.

Thanks to other displaced families in the area, Elena learned of an IOCC-supported emergency project that provides essential food, clothing and household items. “We received the humanitarian kits, and they helped our family have reliable access to food during a very difficult time,” she said.

“The support my family received has been incredibly important for us. Having these basic necessities not only helped us survive but also gave us a sense of stability and hope in an uncertain situation,” Elena said. “This assistance showed us that people care about us and are willing to help, reminding us that we are not alone even in the hardest times. It gave my family courage and strength to start rebuilding our lives in this new city.”
