Inspired by Faith. Driven by Purpose.
As the humanitarian aid and development agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America, IOCC works in cooperation with the Orthodox Church and other partners to serve people in need, in the spirit of Christ’s love. By God’s grace, IOCC strives to equip those we serve to continue to improve their own lives and communities.
Our Mission
IOCC, in the spirit of Christ’s love, offers emergency relief and development programs to those in need worldwide, without discrimination, and strengthens the capacity of the Orthodox Church to so respond.
Since 1992: Orthodox Christian Philanthropy and Service
IOCC has provided more than $830 million in humanitarian relief and sustainable development programs to people facing hardship. Current programs focus on five sectors: emergency preparedness and response; water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH); sustainable livelihoods; food security and agriculture; and health.

How We Put Your Donations to Work
As a nonprofit humanitarian aid and development organization, IOCC assesses and identifies needs, develops plans for appropriate and effective responses, manages operations, tracks grants, guides programs, and ensures reporting and transparency. IOCC is governed by an elected Board of Directors and managed by an Executive Director and an Executive Team. IOCC applies the highest professional standards to its work and renders itself fully accountable to the public and its donors. In all programs, IOCC seeks to support local communities to address the needs they prioritize for themselves and to leave behind local structures better able to manage future developmental challenges.
Our Finances
How We’re Funded
IOCC funds programs and activities through a combination of its own resources and grants. We receive donations from private individuals, parishes, Church-affiliated and other groups, as well as grants from foundations and institutional donors such as UN agencies. We’re registered with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and eligible to receive funds for foreign assistance from the US government. IOCC is also a member of InterAction, a coalition of US-based nongovernmental organizations that provide humanitarian assistance programs overseas.
In all programs, IOCC is committed to abiding by international humanitarian law, including global humanitarian standards and principles.
