IOCC INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
IOCC is committed to providing training and experience to educate young people in the field of humanitarian work. Since 1998, IOCC has offered internships to undergraduates and recent college graduates interested in learning about humanitarian work and disaster relief and recovery.
2019 US Program Internship
IOCC is offering an internship for the summer of 2019 with the IOCC US Program, working in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, and youth engagement in service learning.
The US Program intern will work in various places in the United States, including the US Field Office in Minneapolis. The intern will learn about and support all aspects of IOCC’s work in the disaster cycle, support these functions on the administrative end, and help plan and execute IOCC’s annual Serv-X-Treme Youth Leadership Conference.
IOCC’s US Program assists in multiple phases of the disaster cycle: preparedness, response, and recovery.
- Response teams assist in debris removal and clean-up, as well as with the delivery of emotional and spiritual care. IOCC Emergency Action Teams and Frontliners engage in this work.
- Recovery operations assist in rebuilding and repairing houses to allow homeowners to return to a clean and safe environment. Home Build Teams composed of IOCC volunteers deploy on week-long commitments for this work. Home Build Teams this summer will work in Texas and Florida.
- The IOCC Homefront engages in disaster preparedness at the parish level.
The Serv-X-Treme Youth Leadership Conference is designed for rising high-school seniors to engage in service learning with an Orthodox Christian foundation.
The US Program intern will be based in IOCC’s US Program office in Minneapolis and will deploy throughout the internship to several sites in the US where IOCC has active projects.
The US Program Intern will receive a small weekly stipend to cover incidental expenses. Housing will be provided by IOCC. Travel and meals will be covered while deployed at work sites.
Summer intern applicants must be undergraduates, recent college graduates, or graduate students. All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
The application deadline is May 10, 2019. It is anticipated that interns will begin working in early June. Email all application materials to email@example.com. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
