Your MATCHED Donation Today Will Expand Our Efforts in Ethiopia in 2024!
IOCC has been serving in Ethiopia for decades. Through your support this year, we expanded our program to address the urgent food insecurity issues that have resulted from a series of complex crises, including conflict, the pandemic, drought, and the devastating locust infestation in 2020.
In 2023, IOCC provided support to farmers like Woynshet and Solomon. These two farmers had their crops destroyed by locusts in 2020. Unable to recover the costs, they struggled to provide for their families.
Thanks to generous donors like you, IOCC provided financial assistance so Woynshet, Solomon, and some 600 farmers like them could invest in crops and feed their families. In addition, IOCC delivered crop and vegetable seeds to nearly 500 households. Six communities whose crops were destroyed by locusts also received fruit tree seedlings, small banana trees, and seeds for forage trees and grass.
“If it weren’t for IOCC’s support,” Woynshet said, “I could not have produced this crop. Now I am very happy and satisfied when I visit my crop. My kids will not be hungry and will be able to attend their lessons properly.”
Addressing the needs of farmers is only one of the many ways IOCC is combatting malnutrition and food insecurity in Ethiopia. IOCC also brings medical screenings and support programs to families, especially pregnant women and children. We provide nutritious food and address the underlying needs so communities can build resilience.
Our work in Ethiopia is far from over. With your help, we can expand our impact in Ethiopia and around the world. Help us reach our NEW goal of $300,000 by December 31! Two generous donors are matching gifts up to $155,000, so you can help twice as many people!
PS – Give before midnight December 31 to DOUBLE your gift. Don’t miss this chance to make twice the impact for people in need. Thank you!
