Georgia: Furnishing Kindergarteners with Learning Materials

March 14, 2025

After successfully equipping a kindergarten in the city of Zugdidi, IOCC has continued to support this region in Georgia by furnishing a kindergarten in the village of Shamgona. In this small village, a newly constructed school building sat empty due to lack of a functioning kitchen and other missing essentials. As a result, the 75 children the school was meant to accommodate were forced to learn in a cramped, rented old house. Without funding or outside help, the building would remain unfurnished and unused.

When the Mayor of Zugdidi reached out for assistance, IOCC responded quickly, provisioning the necessary materials for the new building. The donated items include computer equipment (monitor, desktop, projector, printer), kitchenware (dish sets, cutlery, pots, bowls, spoons, forks, ladles, meat grinder, freezer), and furniture for the bedrooms, classrooms, administrative offices, and other areas.

After the building was furnished with all-new equipment, the village of Shamgona held a colorful opening ceremony to celebrate the new school. Thanks to the help and support of IOCC, local kindergarteners will be able to learn and play in a fully functioning school for years to come.
