Right now, Greek authorities are handling firefighting and rescue operations. IOCC’s team is monitoring developments closely as firefighting continues. Our Church partner in Greece, Apostoli, is sending emergency supplies to dioceses in the affected areas.
Once the fires are under control, Greek authorities will complete damage assessments and determine next steps.
IOCC has a long history in Greece, with operations based in Athens. We’ve helped many survivors of fires before, including on Evia and in east Attica in recent years. Typically, IOCC’s programs address both immediate and longer-term needs. We’ll share updates as we have them.
