George, an eleven-year-old living in Arizona, recently proved that helping those in need has no age limit. After deciding he wanted to raise funds to support a charity, George connected with his local Orthodox parish, where he set up a booth to sell coupon books.
“I sat there and for the first 10 minutes we didn’t really get any sales. But then when a huge load of people walked in, and that’s when they started selling,” George said.
In total, George raised over $600, which he decided to give to IOCC.
“I decided on IOCC because I recognized them and I knew that they helped Orthodox Christians all over the world,” George commented. “I thought that was a good idea because instead of the money going to me, I could help someone who needs it more.”
Thanks to George’s effort and initiative, these funds will go to supporting those in need, bringing humanitarian relief to the most vulnerable. And his fundraising work isn’t done!
“I’m most likely going to try and do the same thing next year, but this time I’ll have more time to plan for it, and hopefully make it bigger. And then I can help more people.”
