After Florida was hit hard by Hurricane Ian in 2022, and then again by Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, Camilla’s home on Pine Island had endured multiple flooding events, and was in need of significant repairs. When she returned to her home after evacuating, she found severe flood damage she couldn’t address on her own.
Fortunately for Camilla, IOCC and partner Greater Pine Island Alliance were able to step in and provide the manpower necessary to get her home fixed. IOCC and its volunteer team were able to install a special waterproof drywall alternative, often technically difficult to set up, to make sure Camilla’s home would not suffer similar damage again.
Thanks to IOCC’s help, Camilla’s home was restored close to pre-flood conditions, and is much better protected from any potential storm water in the future.
