Nationwide Virtual Auction for International Orthodox Christian Charities Opens Today

Proceeds to Support Worldwide Humanitarian Work

Baltimore, Md. (May 17, 2021) — Bidding opens today in the first ever nationwide online auction to benefit International Orthodox Christian Charities. Proceeds will support the organization’s ongoing humanitarian and development work overseas and in the US.

With items donated by volunteers and IOCC supporters from across the country, funds given through the auction will support the organization’s mission to serve people in need. Bidding is open from 8 am Eastern on Monday, May 17 until the auction closes at 8 pm Eastern on Sunday, May 23.

The virtual auction follows the success of multiple virtual events IOCC began hosting in 2020, including a nationwide virtual bike ride and 5K walk/run events, plus a virtual paint night and wine tasting. Online venues have helped IOCC safely continue its long tradition of fundraising events even amid the pandemic.

Over 20 items are up for auction, from art and religious pieces to jewelry and high-end accessories luggage and handbags. Several handcrafted wood items were created by IOCC donors. Other art, like a hand-painted icon from Greece and an original painting of a Romanian cathedral, were created by people served by IOCC programs.

Top-ticket items available include a seven-night stay in a two-bed, two-bath villa in Orlando, and a private virtual wine tasting with a Serbian-owned winery in California.

“We’re really excited to offer an online auction for the very first time,” said Christina Meares, IOCC’s Manager of Outreach and Special Events. “We’re especially thankful for all our supporters who have donated one-of-kind items to support IOCC’s worldwide work.”
