Georgia: An Upgrade for a Care Facility

April 28, 2026

At the Dzevri Residential Care Facility in Terjola, western Georgia, long-overdue improvements are changing daily life for some of the country’s most vulnerable residents. Home to 65 adults with special needs, the facility previously faced serious health and safety risks after its sanitation units deteriorated beyond repair.

Through the project “Improving the Living Conditions of the Vulnerable Population in Western Georgia,” IOCC funded and implemented comprehensive renovations to restore the aging infrastructure. Contractors dismantled collapsed flooring and walls, installed waterproofing/hydro-isolation, upgraded drainage and electrical systems, and replaced damaged ceilings. New sinks, toilets, shower systems, and hygienic dispensers were also added, along with custom iron and PVC doors.

The upgrades have transformed the once-failing sanitation areas into clean, modern, and fully functional spaces, helping ensure a safer and more dignified living environment for residents.
