Greece: Bountiful Harvests, Brighter Tomorrows

May 24, 2018

Giant beans are laid out to dry at the agricultural association Agroka in the village of Lakommata, outside Kastoria, Greece. Beans are an important crop in this part of Greece, as the association’s 212 members can attest. Agroka’s members grow and sell a certified variety of bean unique to the region, and they can explain how the soil chemistry there makes these beans unlike any others.

To help boost the association’s production capacity, IOCC provided Agroka with a pallet truck and seed incubator through our Give for Greece program. Agroka’s members are among the more than 650 ag association members across the country who’ve benefited from the program in the last year.
