Help and Hope amid Crisis

The devastating humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and its neighbors is certainly top of mind for so many, and IOCC is no exception. At the same time, our programs worldwide are ongoing, so between updating you on our response to serve Ukrainians in need, we’ll also share news about your gifts at work elsewhere. This story from Lebanon is the first in our new Lenten series, and we hope you find it encouraging.

Lebanon faces multiple crises, as residents navigate the ongoing pandemic, the aftermath of the 2020 Beirut explosion, and currency inflation causing food prices to spike by more than 400%. Thanks to your steadfast support, IOCC is working to reach those most in need there as they face these incredible challenges.

IOCC programs are helping people like Hanneh and Michel, a married couple whose combined income is less than $40 a month despite both actively working to support their family. With families facing the dire choice between food, rent, electricity, or medicine, IOCC is offering emergency food staples to ease some of the economic pressure they feel. Basics like lentils, rice, and cooking oil are helping families in Beirut keep food on their tables.

Thanks to your support, Hanneh and Michel aren’t worried about their next meal and can more easily provide for their family—including Hanneh’s brother, who has a disability and cannot work.

This Lent, help IOCC serve communities in Lebanon, Ukraine, and around the world.
