Lebanon: Playing for Better Health

July 24, 2022

Children across Lebanon participated in Lego play days, getting creative in groups as part of a wider project supporting improved overall health in underserved communities.

In partnership with UNICEF, and as part of a wider program in Lebanon focused on improving the health and nutrition of families in need, IOCC recently organized play activities for children in need.

The play sessions focused on reaching both Lebanese and refugee children, who crafted creations using iconic Lego blocks. Children gathered at health clinics, educational facilities, and maternal and child centers across Lebanon to play together. Activities aimed to help vulnerable children learn, express themselves, and both show off and build their skills through playing with Lego blocks—all in a fun, safe environment. After the workshops, the children showed off what they had built, and the Lego sets remain in the centers for future use by IOCC staff in similar sessions.

Kids ages 5 to 14 got creative on their own and in groups and enjoyed a time of dedicated play—an important part of overall health. The same project is also combatting malnutrition, subsidizing health services for mothers and children, repairing clinics in underserved areas, and more. These are just a few ways your support through IOCC is reaching people in need.
