Praying for the US Southwest

August 22, 2023

As communities across the southwestern US face dangerous flooding in the wake of hurricanes and tropical storms, as well as an earthquake in southern California, IOCC is praying for everyone affected.

Our US Program team is watching developments closely and coordinating assessments with partners and Orthodox parishes across the region.

Please pray with us for safety amid storms, floods, and disasters of all kinds—both in the US and across the world.

Master, Lord our God, Who in ancient times, having heard the prayer of Elijah Your Prophet, condescended for a time to hold back rain from the earth, at this time, O Creator and merciful Lord Who loves mankind, hear the prayer of us Your humble and unworthy servants, and in Your compassion overlook our transgressions. Out of Your same love for mankind, send streams of that love to Your inheritance, and let the sun shine on us who are beseeching and entreating mercy from You. Make the face of the earth be glad for the sake of Your needy people, of the children, of the animals, and of all living things, and satisfy with Your benevolence, granting nourishment to them in due season. For it is Yours to show mercy, and to You we send up glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
