With your help, IOCC has developed ways to reach entire communities with crucial health information. It all starts with a core group of community ambassadors: religious leaders, educators, and volunteers.
One of these frontline heroes is Enguday, a health worker in Ethiopia. Enguday had seen many people in her community suffer from podoconiosis, a painful and disfiguring disease. She knew that many of those with the illness were not in a position to get the care they needed. Fortunately, podo can be treated simply and inexpensively. All that’s needed is some know-how. IOCC trained Enguday in October 2019 on how to properly treat podo—now, she is teaching her community how to use compression bandages and careful daily foot washing to allow patients to return to work, family, and community life.
Your support today ensures that more heroes like Enguday can serve their communities with crucial care and information.
