Did you miss this teeny tiny snapshot in the latest issue of News & Needs of what YOU did by partnering with IOCC last year?
With your support, IOCC shipped over one dozen supply containers in 2023. While 12 shipments may sound small, these crucial deliveries included $9.6 million in supplies.
Each shipping container is approximately 40 feet long with 27 pallets and contains tens of thousands of kits or other items such as medical supplies, personal hygiene items, school supplies, and blankets. The contents of these containers bring more than necessities—they bring relief and hope to people in critical need.
One recent medical shipment arrived in Kenya, traveled through Uganda, and arrived at its destination in South Sudan. From there, the supplies were distributed to very rural and underserved areas that are not accessible by road or river. Many had to be flown in and driven more than eight hours to community clinics.
Patients must travel great distances to these clinics and hospitals, and this medical supply support allows those facilities to continue to offer free health care for the community. The clinics often focus on maternity support and births, wound care, burn care, and minor surgeries.
This shipment to South Sudan ensured that pregnant women received prenatal vitamins and that new mothers had receiving blankets for their newborns. Local hospitals received surgical supplies like gowns, gloves, sharps containers, and masks. Other much-needed supplies, including wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and sterile dressings for wound care, were also delivered.
This means that doctors and nurses have what they need to deliver life-saving care. Other container shipments in 2023 included:
- Medical supplies to Greece, Armenia, and Georgia
- School kits to Jordan, Romania, Moldova, Georgia, and Armenia
- Hygiene kits to Romania, Moldova, Georgia, and Armenia
- Blankets to Jordan, Romania, Moldova, and Armenia
In total, the shipments delivered last year brought more than $9.6 million in supplies to more than six countries and impacted hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children.
