Essentials for Greece Fire Survivors
The Greece wildfires of 2021 devastated communities across several regions, including Ilia, a rural part of the Peloponnese that also saw destructive wildfires in 2007—and home to Ioanna and her elementary-age son George. With your support, IOCC moved quickly to get immediate help to survivors, and we’re still at work to address longer-term needs across the fire-affected areas.
Coordinating with local groups, IOCC has provided vouchers for food, school supplies, hygiene items, and other basics in the immediate aftermath of the fires. With your help, schoolchildren like George were able to start school normally and continue their education despite the displacements and damage caused by the wildfires.
Our recovery efforts continue today with economic aid, providing families with animal feed for livestock and the equipment necessary to restart their small businesses. Your support makes every one of these aid programs possible, helping families in Greece, and all over the world, recover from disaster and rebuild their lives.
