What’s one of the basics a cardiac hospital needs in order to serve its 40,000+ patients? Equipment that works.
Amid conflict and massive disruption to daily life, health and medical care can easily fall by the wayside. And movements of people as they flee violence and seek safety can burden clinics that already serve thousands each year. To help ensure that both local residents and internally displaced Ukrainians can access specialized care for heart conditions, IOCC recently purchased and delivered four types of medical equipment to a cardiology hospital in the Zakarpattia region of Ukraine. The donation included a hematology analyzer, ECG recorders, and a VacuDap dosimeter—all now supporting the hospital’s inpatient and outpatient therapy and surgical services.
The hospital’s director and its doctors told IOCC staff they were very pleased with the new equipment. While some devices upgraded older models the hospital had been using, others were pieces the clinic had never been able to purchase before.
As Ukrainians still in their home country face ongoing conflict and loss, IOCC is supporting access to basic health services that, in some small way, offer help and hope amid tremendous hardship.
