Marina Struggled to Provide the Basics

Can you imagine being a widow with a young daughter to feed while having little income to rely on?

For people like Marina, this is their reality.

Marina worked until 2012 as a pharmacist in Greece but had to stop once her husband passed away. Since then, Marina has worked odd jobs.

In order to save on childcare, Marina is only able to work jobs that allow her to match her daughter’s schedule.

Marina’s friends and family try to pitch in and help when possible, but she still struggles making ends meet.

Thanks to her local parish, Marina learned about IOCC’s prepaid grocery card program, which helps participants purchase fresh, local food through prepaid cards.

“It has saved me, to have these basics: bread, feta, milk, yogurt—the produce … and the chicken.”

Can we count on you to make a gift this Lenten season so we can continue to provide fresh food to people like Marina?
